On the weekend just ended, the site of a modern marina on the Kavajë coast was deserted. No human presence, machinery and heavy vehicles idle while the beam positioned in Turre castle, where the port is being built, stopped the access of unauthorized people on the site, blocking access to Carina beach at the same time , another beautiful Kavajë beach.
In the city they report that during the excavations for the construction of the port, many historical finds were found, including ancient amphorae; an incredible testimony of the rich historical past of the country. Precisely these archaeological finds, the conservation and the cataloging of them, as well as the evaluation of the experts of the area, seem to have interrupted the works for the construction of the port.
The latter is being built in one of the most beautiful areas of the Adriatic coast, just an hour away from the Rinas airport and the city of Durres. According to an indicative table - influenced by weather conditions - the project of the marina, an investment of the Swiss company Finsec Port, which extends to 17 hectares along the coast, officially started in the autumn of 2016 and, theoretically, should end in January of 2020.
The project, which reaches the value of approximately 112 million euros, aims not only to be a base for luxury ships and yachts that travel to Croatia, Montenegro, Greece and Italy, but also to to become a tourist resort with related facilities and services, including spaces for playing golf in the style of elite tourism. In fact, the entire structure will have a hotel, 150 apartments and 800 parking spaces.
The port will act as a magnet to attract more and more foreign tourists to the area of Kavaje and Durres, who have already set a new record for the area this year, especially thanks to the many tourists from northern countries such as Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
