Albanian tourists, Greece and Italy the main destinations
In May of this year, at the doors of the summer season, the Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) - in collaboration with the Bank of Albania - published a special report on the main indicators of tourism in Albania.
According to the publication, Albanian citizens prefer Greece (with 40% of the ratings) as a destination for summer holidays. Follow Italy in second place (17%), Kosovo in third (13%), North Macedonia in fourth (10%) and Germany in fifth (3%).
As for overnight stays of Albanian citizens abroad, instead, Kosovo is last with 1.5 average nights, preceded by Northern Macedonia (2.2 average nights), Greece (6.6 media nights), Italy (8.1 media nights) and Germany (9.8 media nights).
Kosovo Albanians flock to the Land of Eagles
On the other hand, for the Kosovo Albanians, Albania is the main destination where they represent around 35% of total visitors.
In fact, only in the early hours of this morning, about 4058 media - for a total of 22145 citizens - entered Albania from Kosovo. For this reason, the border police have tightened controls on all border points to facilitate traffic and not allow anyone to act against the law.
In this sense, the border police also urged vehicle drivers to respect traffic regulations and not to overtake caravans in order not to endanger their lives and that of other road users.
