Vlora (Vlora in Albanian) has experienced a tourist boom this year from neighboring Italy, especially as regards young people, attracted by the cheapest prices and by the many advertisements on the wonderful Albanian beaches that circulate on social networks.
Although the southern city has experienced its best year in terms of tourism, there have been problems - as the Albanian Albanian economic magazine Monitor has pointed out - problems: Valona, in fact, continues to suffer from the lack of hotel facilities, still very limited in number, and numerous bars, clubs and restaurants on the riviera do not offer any innovative ideas or extra services, which would expand the tourist offer of the city.
However, according to the many tourists and visitors, Valona has passed over the years from being a city that should not be visited - due to the quality of life and security - to becoming a city that must absolutely be visited.
Different speech, instead, for some cities more to south of Albania, like Dhermi that has suffered the 'bad' publicity on the social and internet, in which it was said that the prices in the city were very high. A relative discourse, as high prices were specific to certain rooms or certain beaches.
Valona: issues that remain
Returning to the problems, the situation has clearly improved compared to the past years, but much of them have remained even this year; failure to complete the by-pass Vlora-Orikum, meant that the streets of Vlora were very busy during the summer days.
In addition to this, there is also a lack of staff associated with services in the tourism sector; even if, in this specific case, the fault is not of the companies in question but of a real lack of experts and specialists.
Infrastructure and management of the beaches of Vlora
Even the work of the government is part of the positive aspects of this tourist season. Starting from the infrastructure, that is the key that is putting into operation the Valona waterfront. In addition to this, many roads and neighborhoods have been rehabilitated. The asphalt road of the 'Forest of Soda' meant that this area, along with that of the island of Zvërnec, was very popular with tourists and visitors.
Also the safety on the beaches, differently from the other years, has gone to great, thanks above all to the numerous lifeguards made available by the municipality of Valona, which, to widen even more the tourist offer, has also organized several cultural activities of level European.
