About 2.13 millions of foreign citizens - according to Instat data - visited Albania in the first six months of the 2019, recording an increase in 11,3% compared to the 2018.
From this total, 817.009 citizens have been registered as real tourists from all over the world, about 40% more than last year. The month of June was the one that registered the greatest number of foreign citizens arriving in Albania, 630.334 in numerical terms, the 27% more than the 2018.
Of these 630.000 approximately, the 57% went to Albania for purely tourist purposes, recording a growth (+ 44%) compared to the month of June last year.
The summer season also began in Saranda
Also to Saranda, one of the main Albanian tourist destinations, the summer season has taken hold. However, tourists who stay for more than a day are still few, given that the greatest influx of this type of tourists is expected, like every year, between late July and early August.
Tourists currently visiting Saranda know little about the political situation in Albania, even though tour operators claim that unfortunately about 30% of tourists (mainly from Italy) have canceled their holidays planned for July and August (deepening)
Saranda, which has a capacity of about 30.000 beds, is also a cultural destination given its proximity to the city of Gjirokastër and the Butrint national park. Last year, Saranda is the village of Ksamil tourists from more than 900.000 countries from all over the world have been visited in total by 100, mainly from Russia and Poland.
For this year, on the other hand, the tourist companies speak of a greater turnout from Sweden and other northern European countries, which should visit Saranda by the end of October also on a cruise, given that 140 ships have already included the city of southern Albania in their itineraries.
