The Top Channel TV station conducted a poll between Albania and Kosovo interviewing citizens about relations between the two countries.
The results of the survey
The 88,7% of Kosovo Albanians interviewed - reports Top Channel - visited Albania, while only 31,6% of Albanians visited Kosovo. Citizens of the Serbian minority in Kosovo have also been interviewed on this issue (only 18% of whom have visited Albania in the last two years).
As for security, 85% of Albanian respondents said they felt safe visiting Kosovo, while 60% of Kosovo Albanians declared the same thing for Albania.
Most respondents from Albania and Kosovo stated that they had no problems with social relations (living in the same city, village, neighborhood, working together) with Albanian citizens from the other country.
Different trends in social relations with Serbian citizens: 84% of Kosovo Albanians and 67% of Albanian citizens have declared that they do not want social relations with Serbian citizens. On the other hand, however, the 85% of the Albanians and the 65% of the Kosovo Albanians are in favor of social relations with Eastern European citizens.
The 75% of the Albanians interviewed expressed their support for the marriage with a citizen of Kosovo; lower value, however, for Kosovo Albanians (favorable 56%). For the Kosovo Albanians the value is even lower in terms of being willing to marry an Eastern European citizen (19,5%), about five times lower than the propensity of Albanian citizens (65%).
Similar values also arise in terms of willingness to marry someone from another religion: only the 13,5% of Kosovo Albanians interviewed declared themselves in favor, unlike the 79% of Albanians interviewed.
Current affairs and politics
Kosovo Albanians are better informed about the political framework and institutions in Albania than Albanians are for Kosovo. With regard to the perception of corruption, on the other hand, the interviewees of the two countries were divided: it is greater in Kosovo for the Kosovo Albanians, it is greater in Albania for the Albanians.
Finally, respondents expressed their views on the unification of Albania and Kosovo: the 16% of respondents expressed an unfavorable opinion, while those in favor were more in Albania (63%) than in Kosovo (54%).
