Albania has lost 19 positions in the Doing Business rankings of the World Bank, ranking 82mo among 190 countries of the world considered.
The Doing Business report, published by the World Bank every year, analyzes the legislative and fiscal regulations that apply to companies during their entire life cycle: from the start-up of an activity, up to the protection of those who invest. In short, the climate of entrepreneurship present in the country.
Albania in the Doing Business ranking
The Country of the Eagles precedes only Bosnia-Herzegovina compared to European countries, occupying - together with Malta - the last places in the ranking. Of the 10 indicators analyzed by the report, in 9 of them Albania has marked a reverse,
The most significant deterioration was recorded by Albania in terms of 'investment protection', the most important indicator for foreign investors; in one year, Albania moved from the 26 position of this ranking to the 111, losing 85 positions well.
Other major deteriorations have been recorded in the 'contract protection' indicators, where Albania has lost 22 positions compared to a year ago, and 'building permits', where Albania placed at 166esimo placed on 190 countries surveyed.
The only improved indicator is only that concerning 'the supply of electricity': in this sense, the World Bank underlines that Albania has improved the reliability of the electricity supply thanks to an automated control, supervision and data acquisition (SCADA) that monitors service interruptions and restorations.
Kosovo in the Doing Business ranking
Kosovo also lost positions (13) in the Doing Business ranking of the World Bank for the 2019, placing itself at the 57th place worldwide.
Specifically, for Kosovo, the best indicators are those concerning the opening of an activity (12esimo place) and the obtaining of a mortgage (15esimo place). On the other hand, however, the worst indicators - as for Albania - are those concerning 'building permits' (160esimo place) and 'investment protection' (128esimo place).
Worldwide, New Zealand leads the Doing Business ranking, followed by Singapore and Hong Kong. The rankings are closed in the last positions Somalia, Eritrea and Venezuela.
