The ACC, the Civil Aviation Authority of the 'Mother Teresa' International Airport in Tirana, provided official data on overall air traffic in Albania for the month of September.
As the website of Scan TV, out of a total of 340.282 passengers who have traveled to and from Rinas, about 49.000 are charter flight passengers.
Always according to the report for September 2019, the Italian company Blue Panorama owns the 16% of the total market, with 54.459 passenger traffic, followed by Ernest Airlines with 15% of the market and 49.504 passengers.
The charter flights, that is those made with non-scheduled airplanes (therefore without hourly schedule and schedule) hold the 14% of the market for the month of September only.
If, however, we consider the number of passengers flying with Pegasus Airlines (Turkish low-cost airline based in Istanbul, ed), which operates charter flights to Antalya airport (Antalya, in Italian), the total number is still higher, thus occupying the 15% of the market with a figure of 52.019 passengers.
From the AAC data, it is easy to notice that the companies that fly to Italy, such as Air Albania, Albawings, Blue Panorama, Ernest and Alitalia hold the largest share in the air transport market for September 2019, with around 51% of the total.
Compared to the same month of the previous year, the numbers increased after the Albanian company "Air Albania" entered the market with the three new destinations of Rome, Milan and Bologna.
If we consider the three-year 2017-2018-2019, we note that Wizz Air has the highest growth on the market, + 140% in September 2019 compared to the same period last year. Followed by Lufthansa, which saw an increase in 89% of passenger numbers compared to a year earlier. Charter flights also increased by 5%.
