According to data from Unioncamere-InfoCamere there are almost 32 thousand businesses run by Albanian citizens, equal to 4% of the total number of foreign companies in Italy in relation to the year 2017.
An important figure that, however, recorded a decrease in 1308 activity compared to the previous year, contrary to the number of total businesses managed by immigrants (increased by 19.000 units, with only three provinces in negative: Palermo, Sassari and Bari). In this total value the Albanian entrepreneurs have a weight of only 4%, behind the activities managed by Chinese, Moroccans and Romanians.
The sector with the largest number of businesses managed by the Albanians is the construction industry. Ben 19.511 activities on total 31.773, in fact, operate in the specialized building sector, while 2.979 activities operate in the building sector more generally. Construction companies account for almost 72% of Albanian activities in Italy.
The 16%, instead, is represented by the sectors of commerce and services. The remaining percentage is represented by the manufacturing industry, the agro-food sector and the transport sector. For a total of 2000 esteemed businesses.
Where Albanian companies are concentrated
The Italian cities and provinces in which the Albanian entrepreneurs have most of their activities are: Florence (1.702 enterprises), Milan (1.608 enterprises), Genoa (1.356 enterprises), Varese (1.057 enterprises) and Turin (1031 enterprises). Vibo Valentia and Oristano close the list, with 2 and 1 respectively, registered activities.
If, on the other hand, you look at the ranking of the cities with the highest ratio between the number of foreign and total activities, the province of Prato will be at the top with a value of 28%.
Although they represent around 8,3% of the population, migrants represent around 9,6% of companies active in the area.
The increase in 19.000 activity recorded in the 2017 (587.000 total companies against the 560.000 active in the 2016) show how the growth rate of these companies has increased, compared to the two-year 2015-2016.
