The ever-increasing tendency of young Albanians to leave their country as soon as possible has diminished the chances of improving the economy of the country.
According to a study by the American consulting company 'Gallup', in fact, the 79% of the Albanians among the 15 and the 29 years wants to leave Albania once and for all. The Country of Eagles holds the percentage in the Western Balkans, followed by Bosnia with 62%, Macedonia with 51% and Serbia and Montenegro, which have percentages lower than 50%.
The reasons for this trend
The main cause of this new migration trend is the great perceived unemployment. According to the Instat, in fact, during the second quarter of the 2018, youth unemployment (ages ranging from 15 to 29 years) reached 22,6%, almost twice the average overall unemployment rate.
In addition to this, young people complain about the lack of a better future in the country, with difficulties starting to arise from their school-university course.
"The first problem raised by all the surveys with young people from all the 12 districts of Albania is the lack of study opportunities. Completing their course of studies perceiving this difficulty.
Then, when they finish their studies, they have no job opportunities due to the lack of policies - on the part of the government - that encourage youth employment. ”- said Ervjola Osmanaj, director of the National Youth Network.
What's more, in addition, many polls show that young people are used only as a political background and that they have no effective participation in political decision-making processes and do not find support from them.
80% of youth organizations say they do not have the support of the government to promote youth employment. The Gallup report also mentions data from the International Labor Organization, which show that Albania occupies one of the first places in Europe in terms of youth unemployment.
All these factors are the basis of the desire of the young Albanians to leave the country and never to return to it.
