After just eight games, the adventure of Edy Reja on the Albanian national team's bench may already have come to an end.
Despite the numerous proclamations regarding the renewal of the Gorizia coach during the qualifying campaign for the next European championships, the Federcalcio president - Armand Duka - would have decided, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, not to continue with the former coach of Naples , Lazio and Atalanta.
Duka and Reja should have met today to discuss the future, but the president of the FSHF - as reported by vipsport.al - went to Nyon, Switzerland, for a meeting on safety standards for the new Air Albania Stadium.
The reasons for the divorce
The president of the FSHF would not have liked the home draw on Thursday against Andorra for 2-2, although the decision - according to the Albanian sports media - would have already been matured before that match.
However, what it does discuss is how Duka decided to terminate the working relationship with Reja: the FSHF president, in fact, to "save face" would offer a four-year contract - something that has never happened before in the history of the Albanian national team - to the technician already knowing that the latter would have refused since he has repeatedly declared that he does not want to sign contracts lasting more than two years (Reja today has 74 years).
As if that were not enough, as reported by the journalist Ermal Kuka, the Gazzetta dello Sport would have been the first to report the news of the divorce between Albania and Edy Reja because Duka would have guaranteed the exclusivity of the rosea scoop in exchange for advertising for the new Air Albania Stadium in Tirana.
Last March, Reja was called by the FSHF to replace the exonerated Christian Panucci. In the eight games of Albania's coach, the coach 74enne has collected three victories, a draw and four defeats.
