The moment of truth has come for Kosovo, which in the next rounds against the Czech Republic and England will be played all in all with a view to qualifying for Euro 2020.
The team of Challandes, in fact, is currently in third place (11 points) in group A of the qualifications at the next European championships, behind their own of the Czech Republic (12 points) and England (15 points).
Despite the victory - which may prove decisive in the qualifying speech - on the last day of the Czech Republic against England, Kosovo is still master of its own destiny: winning in Plzen on Thursday, Rrahmani and his companions would be enough a draw at the last day against the already qualified England to qualify.
On the other hand, in case of defeat, it would be the Czech Republic to accompany England in the Euro 2020 group stage. In the case of a tie, however, every speech would be postponed to the last day that will see, in addition to the aforementioned Kosovo-England, the Czech Republic in Bulgaria, already largely eliminated and last in the standings.
A heavy absence
Challandes, in addition to the long inmate Zeneli, will not even be able to dispose of the player perhaps in better shape than this national team, namely Vedat Muriqi. The Fenerbahce striker, injured on the last day of the championship, will miss both games as confirmed by the Football Federation of Kosovo on his website:
"The Kosovo national striker, Vedat Muriqi, will not be able to play the next two games against the Czech Republic, the November 14 in Plzen, and against England, the November 17 at Prishtina. Despite maximum efforts and the great desire of the player to help his teammates in these important games, following clinical examinations and consultations with experts in Switzerland, his presence on the field proved impossible."- reads the note published by the FFK.
Muriqi has made four goals in six matches in this qualifying campaign. Seven goals in eleven games, on the other hand, are the seasonal loot with the Fenerbahce shirt.
The Kosovo technical commissioner spoke yesterday at the press conference on the eve of the two decisive matches against England and the Czech Republic:
"When I see such a number of journalists, I think there are two very important games in sight. If we remember the draw, our ambitions at the time were those of disputing as many good games but not creating pressure for ourselves.
Many people think that we will certainly win against the Czech Republic and that if this does not happen, everything would end. I don't think so and I look at this game that way. It is important to play a great game, a wonderful game; if so, victory will come.
I will never talk to the team this way, putting more and more pressure on the players. It is important to remain ourselves and not change in these two games that will sanction our destiny in these qualifications."- said Challandes at a press conference.
The last hope
In the event of a negative verdict of these Euro 2020 qualifiers, Kosovo will still be able to hope for a place in the next European champions thanks to the UEFA Nations League.
The national team of Challandes, in fact, winning the 3 group of the League of the UEFA Nations League last year, secured a place in the four-team playoffs (ie all the winners of the league groupings) that will be played in March 2020 .
Kosovo will participate only if it fails to qualify through a qualifying round (that is, with England and the Czech Republic); otherwise, his place will be taken by the National team best placed among the unqualified members of League D, or Luxembourg.
In the event of participation, Kosovo will face Macedonia in the semi-final race in Skopke and in the eventual final - whose seat has not yet been decided - the winner of the match between Georgia and Belarus.
