On Sunday at 11, the Albanian champion of Muay Thai, Ervis Bici, will challenge the French Raphael Parfaid for the European title in Turin.
Who is Ervis Bici
Ervis Bici is an Albanian emigrant who lives and works with his family in Brescia, Italy. His passion for the discipline of Muay Thai was born in 2015, when walking with his partner he was particularly struck by a match that was taking place in a ring on the street.
Iniza his career with two victories by knockout and, in the 2016, he is invited to compete for the Italian title in an event organized by Rimini Wellness and where Bici manages to triumph against a very strong opponent. His career then continues with five victories in as many matches.
Among his best experiences, there are training sessions with the Thai champion Sak Kaoponlek, six-time world champion and wrestler of the year in 1995 in Thailand, the biggest award.
In April last year, the Top Combact Federation informed him that it was the challenger of the fighter Giuseppe Giacomazzi for the Italian title. But during the training preparations for the event, Ervis Bici suffered a left knee injury and tried to postpone the match in September.
However, the event organizers report that another challenger has been found in his place. Bici does not give up and, despite numerous pains, consulting with his coach Kaoponlek decides to participate equally in the match, defeating Giacomazzi and graduating champion of Italy for the second time.
The patriotic feelings towards his land are very important, as he himself states in an interview for Panorama Sport. Called 'L'Aquila Nera', it competes in the ring with the name of 'Antica Illyria Ervis'; the Albanian flag is always present in every fight.
