Albania and Kosovo will soon join. It is not a slogan or something that has to do with politics, but simply football.
The new "Mother Teresa" cup, in fact, born from an idea of the president of the Albanian Football Federation Armando Duka, will unite the Albanian people in a single competition that will see the participation of all the clubs of Albania and Kosovo. It will start in March, with the final scheduled for June.
The tournament format
According to what reported by the Top Channel television station, teams from all three categories of Albanian football (Superliga, Kategoria and Parë, Kategoria and Dytë) will take part in the competition, for a total of 100 participating teams (56 from Albania and 44 of Kosovo).
All the teams in the top flight of the two countries (10 for Albania and 12 for Kosovo) will enter the game starting from the 78nd of final, while the remaining 201 participants will compete from the first round in round-trip games. In total, XNUMX challenges will be staged before the June final.
There is great curiosity, both among professionals and fans, for the holding of the "Mother Teresa" cup which will compare for the first time the football competitiveness of Albania and Kosovo. In addition to the "Mother Teressa" cup, the two national cups will take place in parallel as every year.
"FSHF President Armando Duka was the main creator of the 'Mother Teresa' cup. We worked hard and a great project was made. The slogan of the competition will be 'Our language is football'. I contacted the general secretaries of FIFA and UEFA to approve the project. Further on, we will ask the two governments for financial aid, given that there will be many matches. There will be a prize for each team that passes the round."- the secretary general of the FSHF, Ilir Shulku, recently said in an interview.
