The American Ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim, in a note published on social networks, indicated the three priorities of the United States towards Albania: deepening relations in the field of Albanian defense, promoting the democratic development of Albania in support of the path to the EU and increase in US exports and investments in Albania.
Here, translated into Italian, Ambassador Kim's speech which can also be found in a post on the Facebook page of the American Embassy in Tirana.
“I feel deeply honored to serve the United States as an Ambassador to Albania. For more than two decades, I have served the United States as a diplomat.
From Beijing to Baghdad, passing through many countries, I have tried to strengthen US relations around the world. During my 23 years in Washington, I have worked on many of our main foreign policy priorities to help bring peace and prosperity.
I am happy to come to Albania, 100 years after the American recognition of Albania's independence. One hundred years ago, President Wilson opposed the partition of Albania among the neighbors and helped guide it as a member of the League of Nations in December 1920.
Since the United States has supported Albania over the years, Albania has been a friend of the United States. During my tenure here, I intend to work on three priorities.
Firstly, our defense relations aim to make Albania a stronger and more capable ally.
Secondly, I will continue to encourage the democratic development of Albania in support of your EU membership efforts. Albania's European aspirations and the reforms they seek will bring greater prosperity and sustainability to you and the Balkan region.
Thirdly, I will work to promote US exports and investments in Albania in order to create more jobs and opportunities for Americans and Albanians. "
