The CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) has put an end this morning to the Serbia-Albania events of 14 last October, recognizing the table victory for the Albanian team with the result of 0-3.
How rebuilt in our previous article , the willingness of the Albanian team to abandon the game has not been proven: this is the basis of the CAS decision.
At the moment, therefore, the ranking in Group I is as follows:
1) Portugal, 5 Matches, 12 Points
2) Denmark, 5 Matches, 10 Points
3) Albania, 4 Matches, 10 Points
4) Serbia, 5 Matches, 1 Punto
5) Armenia, 5 Matches, 1 Punto
From this year, the first and second teams of each group enter directly, as well as the third qualified with the best score. The remaining eight teams that occupy third place collide in the playoffs and the remaining four go to the Europeans. In short, this national team has all the credentials to access at least the playoffs, except to lose the third position (badly losing the four games left, while Armenia wins all of them scoring a good number of goals).
In any case, a fine of 100.000 euro remains for the Albanian Federation, held responsible for the accident.
Below, in the original language, the TAS press release.
