The new Italian ambassador in Tirana, Massimo Gaiani, presented today the credentials to the president of the Albanian Republic, Bamir Topi. The ambassador will lead the Italian diplomatic headquarters in Albania for the next four years. Massimo Gaiani, replaces Saba D'Elia, who four years ago, precisely the 17 September 2007 was appointed the Ambassador of Italy to Albania. The new ambassador, Massimo Gaiani was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in the 1956, entered into diplomacy in the 1982. Since 2005 he has been Diplomatic Counselor of the Minister for Community Policies, assisting the various Ministers who have succeeded in that office, where he has also been appointed Coordinator of the Secretariat Office of the Interministerial Committee for European Community Affairs (Ciace ). Abroad he served first at the Consulate in Montreal, where he dealt with commercial matters, and later at the Permanent Representation to the then European Economic Community in Brussels and to the Embassy in Washington. At the Ministry he served in the Economic Affairs Department, the General Secretariat, the European Integration Directorate and the Personnel Department.
