The reaction of Albanian politics
Numerous exponents of Albanian politics immediately reacted on social media immediately after today's events.
"After the strong earthquake that has also shaken Tirana, all the emergency teams of the municipality of Tirana are on the field every case reported. If you have been hit by the earthquake, immediately notify 112 or, as needed, the following numbers:
129 - State Police

"Control the people around you, the elderly and children in your neighborhood. For any emergency contact the 112.
129 - State Police
+ 052 2322 50 - Municipal Police
128 - Fire Brigade
127 - Ambulance. "- instead we read in post of the mayor of Durres, Valbona Sako.
Also the Ministry of the Interior, again through Facebook, has announced that all emergency teams are on the ground to deal with any report:
"All facilities are on full alert to make every move to be close and at the service of citizens. The interior ministry together with the state police, sent anyone who needed to contact the 112. "
The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, went to Durres immediately after the earthquake where he held a meeting with the prefect Roland Nasto, to find out in detail the damage caused by the earthquake. After the meeting, the Albanian head of state also released a brief statement to the press:
"The prefect explained to me all the emergency work being carried out in the field and all the measures taken to verify the damage caused by the earthquake, in particular for houses at risk. We are in a state of constant vigilance and it is important to be in constant cooperation with our neighboring countries, to be prepared for any situation. It is important that all facilities work efficiently."- declared Ilir Meta.
Meanwhile, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that he had canceled the planned trip to New York and, therefore, his participation in the UN Assembly. Rama, who had already left Tirana and was in Frankfurt at the time of the quake, made it known that he was returning home.
Rinas airport: the scheduled flights will not undergo any change
Tirana International Airport (TIA) has notified all passengers that there will be no change due to the earthquake and that the flights will normally continue as scheduled.
Furthermore, the TIA has made available for passengers the number + 35542381800 for any assistance or information.
The third earthquake in two years
Today's earthquake was not the third major in the last two years in the Land of Eagles. The last 1 June, in fact, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake he had frightened the citizens of the Korça district in the early hours of the morning, causing considerable material damage.
In June, 2018, instead, a fearthquake shock - always with its epicenter north of Durres - had made the inhabitants of Durres and of the capital Tirana frighten. A seismic event characterized by a series of earthquakes that had reached a magnitude of 5.1, with epicenter at 31 kilometers northeast of the capital. Even in that case the damage was limited exclusively to homes.
A useless irony
A tweet by Rolling Stone Italia immediately after the first earthquake in Albania has made a lot of discussion on the web:
"The earthquake arrives in Italy from Albania. Since what happens to keep the ports open? Mostly undernourished, they make homes in half of Puglia tremble.”- read in the tweet immediately canceled in the following minutes.
A tweet that should have been ironic but actually caused the anger of the many Albanian citizens who experienced tremendous earthquakes. The irony, in this house, it is better to leave it at home.
