The prime minister Edi Rama, resumed on Monday towards New York for the UN General Assembly as confirmed by a post on Facebook, he met today, 25 September, the president of the United States, Donald Trump within the 74th general assembly of the UN.
The Albanian premier was forced to postpone the scheduled meetings for a few days as on Saturday 21 September - while he was in Frankfurt ready to travel to New York - he had to return to Albania because of the fort earthquake that hit the country.
Rama published in the morning on his social profiles a photo of him together with President Trump and their wives, accompanied by the caption "Photo of The Day". In these intense days in the United States, the former mayor of Tirana also met with the president of Turkey, Recep Erdogan, and the Greek prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with whom has discussed of the European integration of Albania.
It was not the first meeting between Rama and Trump, who had met for the first time in the 2017 during a NATO summit in Brussels. On this occasion there was also one short conversation of the two concerning the strategic alliance between Albania and the United States, the reform of the Albanian judicial system and the common struggle against violent extremism.
