With a media statement, the Minister of Health, Ogerta Manistirliu, warned that in case of non-compliance with this decision, the state police, municipal police and other inspectors will be allowed to fine the disobedient. Every person who will be surprised without a mask indoors will be fined 2000 lek (about 16 euros).
"With this regulatory act, the use of masks in closed places for each individual is made mandatory, to defend against the transmission of Covid19. This applies to both public administration and private activities: public transport, offices, building stairs, elevators, shopping malls, markets and shops, wholesale markets and service centers.
The task and purpose of this decision is to safeguard the health of the population. For this purpose, we have approved this regulatory act and we ask everyone's understanding. The use of the mask is very effective also according to the recommendations of the WHO and the European Center for Disease Control.
The sacrifice that you are asked for is not total closure but only wearing the mask to protect yourself and your relatives and neighbors. Thanks to the work done tirelessly, today we have 500 beds available only for patients who will be infected with the coronavirus"- said the Minister.
