Today the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama during the conference held on the occasion of Europe Day said that after a year of work, the bill for the legalization of cannabis for medical use is almost ready, in line with some countries in the world that they have already done so, including Macedonia.
Foreign experts were consulted to prepare the draft, said Rama.
“We have been working on it for a year, and it will soon be ready, after a long consultation with our and foreign experts.
The help of foreign experts was important because we do not invent but learn from others.
Very soon the project will be ready for a public debate as well as with the tax amnesty, which will be discussed with international institutions " said Rama
Pressed by the media the EU delegation to Albania denied participating in the consultations on the subject.
"Following requests from some media outlets, we wish to clarify that the European Commission and the EU delegation have not been involved in the preparation, drafting or consultation of projects in relation to the cultivation and legalization of cannabis in Albania for medical purposes", said the EU delegation.
The news was immediately commented by opposition leaders.
"Rama calls for the legalization of cannabis while he has already started the cannabization process across the country, and our partners are well informed about this" declares the secretary of the
Democratic party, Lulzim Basha.
While LSI leader Monika Kryemadhi says she is convinced that this argument is an electoral move by Rama.
