Ambassador Alberto Cutillo went on Tuesday 16 July, in the region of Lezhë and Shëngjin to visit two of the main investments and production sites of Italian companies in Albania and the Rosalba family home, established by the Community of Maestre Pie Venerini in the village of Gjadër.
The first stop of the visit was the company Poseidon Sh.pk, established in September of the 1996 with a first office in Saranda and then permanently in the port area of Shengjin. The company, a member of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Albania (CCIA), is active in processing and canning there about 900 tons of anchovies a year on behalf of the parent company Zarotti Spa zarotti.it employs more than 250 workers and constitutes an important point of reference for local entrepreneurship in the sector, in full compliance with the Albanian legislation and the environmental and hygienic-sanitary standards established by European legislation.
Second stop was the Colacem Albania Sh.pk Company, a limestone, clay and gypsum grinding plant produced in the annexed mining site of Balldren, which recently celebrated the first 10 years of activity in Albania. The company, the local headquarters of the parent company Colacem, the third Italian cement group and part of the Financo Group, is one of the main Italian investments in Albania with over 40 million. Already a member of both the CCIA and Confindustria Albania, Colacem Albania employs approximately 50 workers in compliance with all the main European industry standards and is of great importance for the local economy, being one of the main sector players in the whole Region with numerous clients also in Montenegro and Kosovo.
The last stop on the mission is the Rosalba family house, in the village of Gjader. Established by the Community of Maestri Pie Venerini, present in Albania by 1994 and active in the support, education, assistance and reintegration of many young people from various Albanian regions, the Rosalba family home welcomes girls in difficult situations, with an incessant work of the most remarkable value social that the Italian Embassy in Tirana will not fail to support and promote, also in order to guarantee an increasingly constructive relationship with the competent Albanian institutions and local authorities.
