The Albanian Socialist Party is shaken. Within a few weeks the changes within the main opposition force on the other side of the Adriatic were of an extraordinary scope. The leader of the pink party Edi Rama with the ordinary Congress and the National Party Assembly meeting has restructured his policy and the men in view of the 2013 parliamentary elections. A few years ago following the policies of Barak Obama, Rama sang the motto "beyond the left and the right" and accused the "old politics" (read Berisha, Nano and Meta, or anyone else but himself) of all the evils of Albania But today the former innovator Rama totally immersed himself in realpolitik, and therefore, based on his new conciliatory line, the members of the "old guard" returned to the Party structures. Strict measures have been taken in the "unruly" as well as some unexpected surprises. Regarding the first Rama reintegrated some of the main collaborators of the former socialist prime minister Fatos Nano into the socialist party, the same one that Rama challenged to lead the faction he led. They were the first "persecuted" affected by the aesthetic operation that the former Mayor of Tirana undertook as soon as he sat down in the most important chair of the former Labor Party. The accusation that fell on them, the only exception for which Rama and Berisha agreed, was that they were the symbols of corruption in the eight years of the Nano government (1997-2005), and that as such they had to be cleaned up. Well, today a large part of them was warmly embraced by Rama. For some, this conciliatory practice has been judged as a self-correction by Rama appointed to recompact the left, but one could also opt, in judging this action, for a moral instability on the part of Rama who went to lick where he spit, as claimed by an old Albanian saying. It is not the first time, seen and considered that even parties like the PDK (the Christian Democrats) already heavily insulted by Rama (ex-allies of Berisha up to 2009) after their expulsion were greeted with open arms from the socialists.
But let's move from the first group of reconciled, to the second, or even better to say that of the "insurgents", from which the writer Ben Blushi was saved in extremis, thanks to his revised position, but not Kastriot Islami, on which the hand of Rama is heavy fall. In fact, it was officially announced that the former foreign minister of the Nano government will be expelled from the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party, for not having kept the political line of the latter. Apart from him, another "rebel", MP Andis Harasani, if he did not receive the same treatment, we missed him a little. Surely, Rama could not please everyone, but on the other hand he also had to give the example that not all those who rebel against him will be treated with love, because such a tendency would have been equally dangerous for internal stability. two other parliamentarians from the socialist group. The former, former Prime Minister Pandeli Majko, who, it has become known, intends to pursue an international career by placing himself in an important position within the United Nations. As for the young Rudina Seseri, she gave up choosing a professional career and family life in the United States. Both these seats in the Albanian Parliament will be automatically occupied by the subsequent candidates in the electoral closed lists, always within the Socialist Party. There is also another incident, from my grave point of view, of which the media has never spoken. The last Congress of the PS also elected the former Chief Prosecutor of the Republic Theodhori Sollaku as a member of the National Assembly, on the direct proposal of Edi Rama. With this move Rama gave reason to Berisha who a few years ago led a bitter battle against Sollaku, to remove him from his post. Everyone saw in the actions of Berisha an attempt by the Government to also control the Justice, but integrating it into the Socialist Party Rama ironically gave reason to Berisha who accused Sollaku of being the Prosecutor of the Socialists and not of the Republic. After having politicized the entire NGO “Mjaft” by integrating its main actors into the PS, Rama also put his hands on the judicial system, thus making it impossible for a society of free citizens and professionals to be created in Albania not necessarily affiliated with political parties.
