With 101 votes in favor, zero against and no abstention, the North Macedonia parliament approved the technical government led by Oliver Spasovski.
In his classroom speech, Spasovski promised free and democratic elections but also the completion of the accession process in NATO and the European Union.
"Everyone must concentrate on holding free and democratic elections. Now VMRO-DPMNE has to prove that it is pro-democracy. It is time to organize free and democratic elections, but also to complete the accession process in NATO and in the European Union."- said the premier of the new technical government of North Macedonia.
The priorities of the technical government
Spasovski stressed that the country is in a period of extraordinary importance, in which the unhindered functioning of all institutions is expected. According to the work program presented by the former interior minister to parliament, the technical government has several strategic priorities until April 12, the date of the early elections.
In this sense, Spasovski listed: the organization and realization of free and democratic elections, the accession to NATO, the start and the continuation of the accession negotiations with the EU, the development of the economy, the increasing employment, increasing the quality of life in the country, implementing judicial reforms, establishing a civil status and ethnic cohesion based on the principles of tolerance and mutual respect.
There is also opposition
The VMRO-DPMNE opposition party will take part in the technical government by directing the Ministry of the Interior and that of Labor.
"We are on the eve of a great challenge in which the lies, crime, corruption and all the other things that have characterized our politics will have to be defeated with conviction. Together with the people we will overcome all obstacles."- declared the leader of VMRO-DPMNE, Hristijan Mickovski.
Last October, after the failure to start accession negotiations with the EU, former Prime Minister Zoran Zaev had announced his resignation and early government elections, later set for April 12, 2020.
