At the international airport of Tirana, yesterday a plane carrying 30 Albanian citizens repatriated from France and Belgium landed.
The event falls within the context of collaboration between the Albanian government and Frontex, which has allowed the Albanian citizens residing illegally in EU member states to return home from 1 January this year to the present day.
Since last August, in fact, the implementation of the national program is continuing to eliminate or at least try to stop this phenomenon as much as possible; for this reason, all citizens who did not complete the requests for travel in the Schengen area were blocked at the border and sent back. Among these were also stopped 80 citizens intending to leave Albania with falsified documents.
The deputy director of the state police, Aida Hajnaj, present yesterday in Rinas, told the media that the police will continue to do everything possible in the 2018 to avoid this phenomenon.
A more severe method in police checks
The measures taken by the Albanian government came as a response to the concern expressed by many European states for the high number of asylum seekers arrived and for the growing criminal activity that these requests have produced in other countries.
Precisely for this reason, in 2018, more than 3.000 people have not received police permission to leave Albania. In the bimonthly period January-February, in particular, the police have sent back to home about 250 minors:
"Within the Albanian border police, operations to repatriate Albanian citizens in cooperation with Frontex and with destination countries have intensified; in the period from the first of January to the 28 of February, 156 operations were conducted for a total of repatriated 1044.
Seven of these operations were conducted at the request of the Albanian border police, while the remaining 149 were ordered by the countries of destination in cooperation with Frontex. " - reads the note from the state police.
Attention has been paid to strengthening border services for the recognition of false travel documents, through the use of specialized and advanced trainings.
