The French company "Voltalia as" is the winner of the international contract for the photovoltaic park of Karavasta at a price of 24,89 euros per megawatt.
Prime Minister Edi Rama described it as a good day for the Albanian economy because it is a system of foreign investments with over 100 million euros that are invested in the energy field.
“I am very happy that after a short period of time we managed to finalize this process, also taking into account this particular moment following the epidemic that led to many suspensions and delays in the competition process.
I am glad that we are able to see concretely the completion of a great effort, to open a new page in the history of the energy system. We are talking about a foreign investment of over 100 million euros and it will be a project that will create an internationally renowned company, the first investment of this nature, in the field of solar energy.
This is a very positive day for Albania. By 2050, the world's energy needs will have tripled. This is the largest park in the region. For us it is the beginning of a process, in which we foresee the growth of these capacities.
The offer was fantastic, far from any forecast, exceeding our expectations. I hope the yard can be opened in the fall. " said Rama
While the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Belinda Balluku said that the French company met all the conditions of the tender.
“This is a record price for all energy parks. The offer is exceptional, ”he said.
Prime Minister Edi Rama also revealed some new projects that are expected to be implemented very soon, in addition to investing in the field of solar energy. The head of government said the government had decided to build the Skavica hydroelectric power station with 100% state investment.
“Very soon we will move on to another project, conceived and postponed for more than 30 years, the design and construction of the Skavica hydroelectric power station.
It was the goal of all governments, it is a necessary and complicated work and that is why the governments that planned it have always put off.
We decided to build it with our own strength, with 100% state funds. " Rama said
