In addition to the national measures taken against the coronavirus, the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj presented a local action plan for the municipality of Tirana, given that the capital is the epicenter of this virus in Albania, where the two cases of contagion occurred.
First, a measure has been taken which is related to the closure of schools, to meet the needs of mothers who work in the Municipality of Tirana.
Mothers with small children will not go to work and sometimes only for an hour, when presence is essential for the functioning of the city. Veliaj also urged private companies to follow the same path, "Because today's most important profit is everyone's health."
City Hall employees over the age of 60 will also be on leave because they are deemed to be at greater risk. In this context, the centers for the elderly will also be closed, although the service will not be interrupted, finding alternative solutions.
Fines and criminal consequences for supermarkets that increase prices
The municipality has warned owners of grocery stores and supermarkets that they will try to take advantage of this situation by raising prices. Anyone who does so will be fined will be fined and prosecuted.
Roads, buses, nurseries, kindergartens, children's playgrounds have been disinfected, but the mayor wanted to reiterate that "What is already known worldwide for better prevention against coronavirus infection is personal hygiene."
