The Italian Embassy in Tirana announced, through an official statement, the launch of the project aimed at supporting the Albanian School of Magistrates
The press release
"Today, the Minister of Justice of Albania, Etilda Gjonaj, the Vice President of the High Council of the Judiciary, David Ermini, and the director of the Italian agency for development cooperation, Luca Maestripieri, inaugurated the project "Sostegno at the Albanian judiciary school as part of the constitutional reform ".
The Italian ambassador to Albania, Alberto Cutillo, the ambassador of the European Union delegation, Luigi Soreca, and many other personalities took part in the opening ceremony of the project, held at the new headquarters of the judiciary school. of the Albanian judicial system, as well as the main international partners in this sector.
The project, with the total value of 300.000 euro, is the result of a request expressed unanimously by the Albanian government and the international community: support for the reform of the judicial system in Albania. The training of new judges and new Albanian prosecutors will help to strengthen the Albanian judicial system.
The Italian agency for development cooperation, in this sense, has taken concrete steps to have the Italian council as the executor of the initiative. Thanks to the prestige and the functions of the superior council of the judiciary, it will be possible to guarantee the completeness of the necessary roles and specialist profiles and to carry out a coordinated action with other Italian realities of excellence such as the National Anti-Corruption Agency and the Italian Magistracy School.
The project, therefore, wants to be the first integrated Italian response to the demands of the Albanian judicial system. These requests will be further investigated in the near future and will probably be the subject of a new series of initiatives - planned for the 2020 - aimed at consolidating the role of Italian cooperation as a partner and point of reference for the rule of law sector in Albania ”.
