Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci participated in the final ceremony of the works for the rehabilitation of the Tirana water network. Together with him, Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Mayor of the city Erion Veliaj and the Minister for Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku were also present.
The event marked the end of a large project in support of the Albanian water system, started in 1998 and aimed at modernizing the drinking water supply and distribution system in the urban area of the capital.
The program, divided into three distinct phases, was managed by the Albanian Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy against a budget of 27 million euros allocated to credit granted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
A first phase which allowed the implementation in the short term of urgent interventions on the most damaged infrastructures, was followed by an administrative and technical support program aimed at strengthening the technical-managerial skills of the UKT municipal company, the Tirana Aqueduct.
The third and final step, completed on schedule despite the difficulties presented by the earthquake last November and by the current global health emergency, allowed the construction of two new structures, specifically two supply lines: one between Lake Bovilla and the drinking water plant and the other by-pass system in the built-up area of Tirana, which will replace the old existing pipeline following an alternative route.
In this phase of the program, the contribution provided by the Italian contracting companies HTC Costruzioni e Servizi Srl, AI Engineering Srl and SWS Consulting Engineering Srl was fundamental.
"The Italian Cooperation demonstrates, with this infrastructural intervention, its constant commitment to improve the living conditions of the Albanian population"Said the Ambassador"and this collaboration will continue with the intensity and effectiveness of all time, in the common interest of strengthening the friendship of our countries and of supporting actions in favor of Albania and its entry into Europe"
. The Ambassador then thanked the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, UKT and the National Aqueducts and Sewerage Agency for their valuable collaboration with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and the Embassy of Italy, joining President Rama in remember the work of the Italian companies that made possible the realization of this program by demonstrating the competitiveness of Italian entrepreneurship.
