Albania has seen a slight improvement in the Henley Passport Index, which is the index that evaluates for each country in how many countries citizens can go without a visa. According to the latest report, in fact, Albania has risen to 48th position (in January it was 50esima) in the ranking of the most powerful passports in the world.
Albania and other countries
Albanian citizens can go, without needing a visa, to 116 countries:
"Albania, for example, has climbed 28 positions well in recent years and this means that today its citizens can move to 116 destinations without a visa."- reads the official Henley publication.
In Europe, the supremacy of the most powerful passport belongs to Germany: in fact, its citizens can go to 188 countries without a visa. However, by widening the ranking on a global scale, Germany is in fourth place.
Japan, South Korea and Singapore precede it, with equal merit, with 189 countries without visa requirements. The top 10:
- Singapore, South Korea, Japan (189 countries)
- Germany (188)
- Denmark, Finland, France, Italy and Sweden (187)
- Luxembourg and Spain (186)
- Austria, Holland, Norway, Portugal, Switzerland and the United Kingdom (185)
- Belgium, Greece, Canada, Ireland and the United States (184)
- Czech Republic (183)
- Malta (182)
- Australia, Iceland, New Zealand (181)

On the other hand, instead, it is that of Kosovo (95esimo place) the weakest European passport. Its citizens can go without a visa in 'only' 43 countries. However, looking to the future, Kosovo could record a very important climb in this ranking as the country has officially met all the criteria for visa liberalization with the European Union.
On a global scale, the weakest passports are those of Afghanistan and Iraq: the citizens of these two countries can only move towards 30 countries without visa requirements.
