As part of the annual inspection program, the Food Safety Authority (AKU) has continued the controls regarding the implementation of the standards fining for around 18.000 euros (2,2 million lek) and suspending the activity of an Italian company that from 7 years operated without a commercial license.
The direction of the AKU region of Tirana, following the complaint received from the residents of the area of "Kodra and Diellit", carried out a check on the activity in question that dealt with "trade and production of sweets and derivatives" and to the owner of the company, the Italian citizen Gioacchino Raia.
The check carried out showed that the activity was inspected for the first time, since there was no record in the AKU archives. The inspection concluded with a "warning" measure for the company and its owner, from which the fine and the suspension of the company were derived until obtaining the business license.
With the aim of rigorously treating citizens' concerns, but also of ensuring a regular administrative process for the activity manager, both inspection practices will be subject to administrative investigations by the structure responsible for the general management of the AKU.
The Food Safety Authority encourages all consumers to cooperate by reporting any violation or abuse, thus helping to further improve food safety in the country.
