Emergency in Albania, Caritas alongside the population
"Caritas Albania and the diocesan Caritas of Tirana-Durazzo, Lezha e Shkodër are active on both fronts to respond with the first aid to the needs of the population, in close coordination with the local authorities.
In particular, we are trying to understand what the short and medium term needs are, especially for the poorest and most vulnerable families.
One of the 6 emergency points constituted by the local civil protection was placed inside the "Don Bosco" diocesan structure at Tirana, in which Caritas operators and volunteers are distributing basic necessities and supporting families. Among the most fragile categories are homeless people, for whom specific attention has been asked to Caritas Albania.
The already precarious socio-economic situation of Albania makes it very difficult to find the necessary funds to cope with these new emergencies. Italian Caritas therefore appeals to the generosity of the bidders to support the local population that boasts a historical link with our country and with our people.
