Through a post on Facebook, the US embassy in Tirana makes it clear that the US government is committed to fighting corruption and respecting the rule of law throughout the world.
In this sense, the embassy states that the Secretary of State has publicly designated about 100 people around the world - 14 of which Albanians - who were definitively denied entry to the United States, including former prosecutor Adriatik Llalla, the former mayor of Durres Vangjush Dako and the deputy Tom Doshi.

The US Embassy in Tirana explained in detail through a video on Facebook the article 7031 (c) of the American legislation, which provides for the permanent ban on entry into the United States for foreign officials involved in corruption offenses:
"Pursuant to article 7031 (c) of the US legislation, the secretary of state permanently banned the former Attorney General Adriatik Llalla, the deputy Tom Doshi and the former mayor of Durres, Vangjush Dako, from entering the United States like their wives and their children.
This means that they will never acquire a visa for the USA. What is the provision pursuant to Article 7031 (c)? It all starts with reliable evidence of corruption: when the United States learns about foreign government officials involved in serious corruption crimes, the secretary of state has the authority to implement a permanent ban on US entry for the subjects in question and their families.
It is a strict measure exclusively for the most corrupt public officials anywhere in the world. How does the state secretary decide who to apply 7031 (c) to? The state department analyzes corruption cases around the world and their impact on US interests.
Examples of corruption on which 7031 (c) may be applied include: requesting, accepting or giving money, gifts or other personal benefits in exchange for favors offered by the position held; the unlawful acquisition of public funds; interference in judicial, electoral or other public trials.
When the State Department decides that a foreign public official has committed a crime of corruption, the secretary of state can order the subject and his / her family 7031 (c), in a public or private manner. How many people 7031 (c) was publicly applied to. Up to now at around 100 people all over the world, 14 of which are Albanians.
[...] The United States will continue to open its doors to public officials who fulfill their duties with ethics and professionalism. Current and past officials need to know that both they and their families risk losing the privilege of entering the United States in the future. - underlines the video of the American embassy in Tirana.
