During the communist period there was a battle to eradicate syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection. It was not an easy fight because people, out of modesty, tended to keep the presence of the disease hidden. The police and secret services that chased the suspects entered the people's private lives, wives and lovers were chased and then forced to take necessary care. With these methods the battle was quickly won.
Today the Albanian police are demonstrating the same efficiency in the fight against the coronavirus. In fact, although no telephone number is requested at the border, in recent days people who have traveled to areas affected by coronaviruses receive this message sent by the State Police:
“In the last few days you have traveled to the areas affected by COVID-19. We remind you of the obligation to comply with all measures provided by the Albanian Government such as the 14-day self-quarantine from the time of return to the country. Failure to comply with this obligation constitutes legal liability. The state police are monitoring the implementation of all measures by all citizens traveling to the affected areas. Protect yourself and others, thank you for your understanding "
As mentioned before, a telephone number is not requested at the border so it legitimizes the question: “where they got the number? "
So the right to the protection of personal data has been postponed for now, because as Rama says “this is a war and you can't win otherwise ".
For those who have traveled to the affected areas and do not drive into quarantine, a fine of 5000 euros is foreseen. Rama had made it known a few days ago.
"Those who have returned from Italy or other affected areas in the past 14 days should quarantine themselves. From today, the state police and the military police will go out on the street organizing checkpoints to check if in the stopped vehicles there are people who have entered Albania in the last 14 days.
For them it is forbidden to leave the house but they should close themselves in a quarantine car. Anyone of these people
be caught on the street tomorrow will be fined 5.000 euros. And it will be forbidden to leave the country before paying this fine. I realize that they are severe measures but they are not in vain.
I know that in normal moments they would be strange but we are not in normal times. We are dealing with an enemy who is not seen but is around us.
