The reception capacity of these centers is estimated at 30 thousand units and their accommodation will be carried out in shelters near the border points (Korça, Saranda and Gjirokastra).
For refugees to be traced within the Albanian territory, an arrangement has been made in the district of Elbasan and Lezha.
The influx of refugees to neighboring countries such as Greece after the opening of the border from Turkey prompted the Albanian authorities to plan the establishment of reception centers.
The institutions have calculated a maximum reception capacity of 30.000 refugees. The Civil Protection, State Police, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defense were involved in this emergency situation, while the use of doctors and the supply of logistic tools from other institutions was also considered.
According to rumors reported by the Albanian broadcaster Ora News in Pocest (Korça district) 5 people will be hosted, in Krana (Saranda) about 5000, in Arshilengo of Gjirokastra 5000, in Gjadër (district of Lezha) around 5000 and in Elbasan from 5 to 10 thousand.
The reception and acceptance points will be in Kakavija, Sopik, Qaf Bote, Rrips, Tre Urat, Leskovik, Shtik, Kapshtica, or in shelters located near the border points that connect Albania with Greece.
Refugees from Greece will be accommodated in Korça, Saranda and Gjirokastra, while immigrants tracked down in Albanian territory will be accommodated in Elbasan and Lezha.
Currently two reception centers have been established along the green line with Greece, one in Korça and one in Gjirokastra.
The refugee crisis was reopened a few days ago when Turkey opened the border to allow Syrian refugees to travel to EU countries, leading Greece and Bulgaria to intensify border controls.
