Herve Loiselet it's a French citizen who lives and works in Albania. When he was a student in the 1987, he had heard on a radio a sort of propaganda about the country in French, English and Italian. Was Radio Tirana.
"It was a very strange thing and I thought to myself: where is this place? For this reason, I decided to go to the Albanian Embassy in Paris to get information on this nation ”- says Herve a Gazeta Shqip.
He then ventured towards Albania, departing by train from Nice and arriving in Bari where he embarked to arrive in Durres:
"On my arrival I was struck by two things: first, poverty; I asked myself, how can it be possible that a place so close to Europe is so poor? The second thing was the affinity and the feeling of knowing that place. He immediately entered my heart and I immediately thought of living here. "
For a period he traveled continuously between Albania and France, then the decision of the 2003 when he chose to move permanently to the land of the eagles. He bought a house and rented an office to work as an interior designer; initially he obtained a residence permit for five years, which became a permanent permit over the years.
"I plan to take Albanian citizenship one day, why not, even if I don't speak Albanian well. I speak like a child of five, I learned the language by listening so much but I understand it well. " - says the Frenchman.
In France, Herve has parents and siblings. In Albania he lives alone.
What do the French say when they visit him?
"Many friends and relatives visit me in Albania and remain amazed. The reaction is always the same: oh God, how beautiful it is here! They start out biased because they have heard many negative things about Albania, but when they arrive here they are fine, because nature is beautiful, people are very nice, so they feel at ease and safe. It is a perfect place to live. " - Herve continues.
In the 2005, enchanted by the South of Albania, he bought a house in Qeparo. Herve Loiselet is one of the 12.000 foreigners who lives in Albania and who is in possession of residence permit, according to data from the Ministry of the Interior.
"You can drink a coffee at the bar and in the meantime sign a contract. I like this style, because in Europe, especially in France, we forget this lifestyle. " - concludes the French citizen.
