Neither European nor world championships were held in the 2017, yet this did not prevent the gambling sector from continuing their growth at a high rate.
According to data analyzed by the Albanian business magazine Albanian Monitor in his study based on data declared by 14 major casino companies, betting agencies etc., the flow of money passed through this sector in the 2017 amounted to around 132 million; a value that showed an increase in 9,3% - or 11 million - compared to the 2016.
While in Italy the go ahead of the Council of Ministers to ban advertising for gambling operators has arrived - one of the rules contained in the Dignity Decree with other regulations against gambling - in Albania, from 2013 (when the government has started its own "battle" against the sector) today there has been an increase in betting centers and arcades from year to year.
All these are only the official data, where the informal actions that are estimated high for the sector are not calculated and recorded.
Gambling: casinos and the growth of betting centers
From official statements, online casinos are the category in which Albanians try their luck the most. In fact, in the casinos licensed, around 78 million was spent in the 2017.
Unlike casinos - which did not record a significant increase compared to the 2016 - betting centers showed a clear growth in revenues during the 2017: for some of these centers (such as Top Start and Lotto Sport) the rise was of 20%, while, in total, an 48 million euro cash flow was circulated in the 2017.
A win-win situation for betting agencies, which, in fact, represent the most productive sector in the country in terms of revenues, thanks also to revenues from bets that average from 30% to 50% of total revenues.
