“The 4 million euro fund that the European Union has granted to Albania is a quick reaction to the fight against the common enemy like Covid-19.
Today was signed the contract between the EU ambassador to Albania Mr. Luigi Soreca and the United Nations coordinator in Albania Brian Williams, on medical devices that will strengthen our ability to face the COVID-19 emergency ".

"Today signed with UN Albania and Minister Manastirliu the first donation of 4 million euros to Albania for immediate medical supplies: fans, masks, test kits and PPE. This is the first part of the 50 million announced by Oliver Varhelyi.
Soreca also gave a speech where he spoke of the urgency of this aid in order to better prepare the Albanian health system to face the emergency.
“I am very happy that today we are able to sign a supply contract between the EU and the United Nations Office for Services and Projects (UNOPS). This contract will ensure the rapid supply of special medical equipment and devices for pandemic prevention and treatment. These devices will be essential to address the current health emergency and prepare the Albanian health system to better respond to similar threats in the future.
European Union-funded equipment includes:
CT scanners, ventilators, ambulances fully equipped to save lives and to provide transportation to the emergency room in the most serious cases, portable digital instruments for radiographic examinations and modern equipment for intensive care.
These articles have been jointly identified by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
The EU will also provide fully equipped beds for intensive care units, as well as protective and disinfectant materials for healthcare professionals and operators who are at the forefront of this daily battle. "
