MoneyGram will reward immigrant entrepreneurs in Italy. This is the tenth edition of the MoneyGram Awards, organized by the multinational company specialized in money transfer activities.
The event will take place in Rome, the 31 May, at Palazzo della Cancelleria, where several companies operating on the Italian territory will participate.
In previous editions 1300 companies were present at the awards ceremony, representing over 40 countries. In previous years, as reported affariitaliani.it, the 30% of the candidates came from Europe, the 21% were entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean, the 14% from Maghreb, while the 13% from Africa. The 40% of all participants were women.
The geographical origin, in the 10 editions, was subdivided as follows: 53% from Northern Italy, 43% from the Center and 4% from the South. While the age range was among the 35-44 years (the 53%).
This year's awarding will be divided into 3 different categories:
- Business growth
- Youth entrepreneurship
There will also be the first absolute prize for the Immigrant Entrepreneur of the year.
It was a technical jury that made the selection of the finalists of the 2018 edition, a jury of candidates coming from 15 nationality, moreover from Albania, Romania, Senegal and Morocco.
According to the information, the day before the award ceremony, as well as the May 30, MoneyGram will organize a gala dinner. All the candidates, the jury and representatives of the business world and politics will be invited.
MoneyGram Awards 10 was born years ago, with the aim of giving value to the positive contribution that foreign entrepreneurs offer to the Italian economy.
According to the data provided by Leone Moressa Foundation, in 2016, in Italy there are over 570.000 companies managed by immigrants (the 9,4%). These companies are able to produce more than 100 billions of euros of added value (6,9% of GDP).
Always referring to these data, in the 2011-2016 period, the total number of companies managed by foreign entrepreneurs has increased by 22%.
