On Monday 19 March at 17.30, at the Circolo dei Lettori, will be held the meeting "New Italians: the role of the media in the definition of New Citizenship".Organized by the Consulate General of the United States in Milan, will see the participation of Mona Eltahawi - expert editorialist of the Arab and Muslim world - and of various illustrious guests such as Ilda Curti (Councilor for Integration Policies), Richard W. Snelire (Consul for Political and Economic Affairs and New Citizenship at the United States Consulate General in Milan), Farian Sabahi (journalist and professor at the University of Turin),Viorica Nechifor (ANSI, National Intercultural Press Association) the FIERI Institute and many others.
Above all, we will question the role of the mass media in defining the profile of the "New Italians" following the migration processes in which our country is a major player, also analyzing traditional, ethnic and blog media, now quite numerous.
We will also discuss how the press can give space to the ideas of second-generation youth, thus helping the new communities in the precious process of interaction between countries of origin and reception.
