Jozef Gjura, the grandson of Lin Delija is a candidate in the 2019 local elections in Vercelli
"Belonging to multiple cultures makes you free from the germ of racism because you understand that there are no substantial differences. I see the sea where others see a wall "
The next 26 May, together with the European elections, will be held the Italian administrative elections. We have taken steps to find candidates of Albanian origin that you can consult here
"I was born in Shkodër in the 1994 I am a graduate actor, currently working in the theater but I also had experience in cinema, television and fashion. I'm a candidate with the list Vercelli with Maura Forte.
It is a civic list that supports the outgoing center-left mayor. In these years the mayor Forte has shown an excellent management of public funds, hurting with difficulty a gap in the budget of 16 million left by the previous administration, making use of a majority composed of a single councilor, without taking anything away from culture and social policies .
The city has had a remarkable cultural growth, the prose season of the Civic Theater has improved and the number of tourists in the city has risen considerably. Several cultural events have been held with the hope that the citizens will wake up from the torpor favored by the previous administration.
According to Istat data, a Vercelli the labor market and the real estate market, favored by various companies that have chosen our city as a base, are on the rise. "
Interview with Jozef Gjura
"Now Gjura that you don't come back"
1. What is your proposal within the program of the Vercelli list with Maura Forte
With mayor Maura Forte I discussed two important projects that fit perfectly with what I would like to do. The first is the creation of a FilmMaker School with training activities for the various professions that affect cinema, that is, directing, screenwriting, editing and acting courses that would create a training center that is all to be realized.
It is an ambitious project for a city that values cultural promotion by offering young people opportunities for growth. My training and my professionalism will allow me to contribute both to the project level and to the realization of the activities. The academy from which I came out can be taken as a model, where selections are made on a three-year basis, thus creating a single class group that is well followed by all teachers for three years; doing so also includes the number of graduates based on market demands. And I would add that for such training actions there are also EU funds.
The second project is the revaluation of the suburbs and create a decentralization of cultural and night life. Vercelli has many abandoned structures including the former Asylum and two large barracks of which one will already become the new headquarters of the court. The Mibac offers 25 million for the redevelopment of the suburbs and the Forte administration already has in hand a project that can draw from this fund as soon as the current Government in Rome unblocks it.
2. Why do you think they will have to vote for you?
Thespis: Turismo, ECultural lack, Sport, Pianeta to save e Integration.
I want to develop a system that integrates these words into a process of economic development,
I would like to start by implementing a marketing and communication plan for the city with the aim of making Vercelli known even more nationally and across the Alps to increase and vary Vercelli tourism. You can start with the production of multimedia material to sponsor the city.
I want to bring to Vercelli unique events such as theater festivals, art exhibitions and film festivals - like Cinemadamare which has already made a stop in Vercelli thanks to the mayor Forte.
I am an actor who is working all over Italy, I can easily contribute by putting my knowledge and my experiences at the service of the city.
To do this it is useful to gather at the same table heads that can make their contribution and I believe a lot in my generation; we are formed, we are intelligent and we have the world in our hands, we just need to feed our positive thinking more and not let ourselves be limited by how the world was left to us.
The Albanian poet Migjeni he says "Qeshu rini, qeshu, bota asht and jote": laugh boy, laugh, the world is yours.
The environment factor is very important to me. The use of plastic in schools, in the Municipality itself and in all the state offices must be reduced to begin by setting a good example.
Then you can make different promises but if you want a real change, this must start from us first of all. The problem is that people basically don't want to change because change involves hard work, everything is expected right away and people are always complaining but few people really do anything for the community. Then people are dissatisfied and frustrated with their failures and blame others.
We need a radical change, a positive and communitarian thought and we need to eliminate provincialism in favor of cultural emancipation. We need to accept the different, the foreigner, the homosexual.
For some of us they are accepted and defended concepts, but ignorance is still present and must be fought. Those who boast of being racist pride themselves on being ignorant but ignoring is the worst thing a man can do.
Ignorance is fought with the cultural revolution, every citizen should explore his artistic side. It is not trivial, believe me: art will save the world.
3. Being in possession of a dual citizenship, belonging to multiple cultures and speaking multiple languages is a point of advantage or disadvantage for you and why?
Those who really want to do something are few, many do it out of personal interest, I'm not one of them. I would feel guilty if I made politics only for my own interest and I seem to have shown that the facts are there.
I am a boy who still has to do his experiences in politics, voters will give me the opportunity to learn. Then if I make a mistake I will treasure the words of Becket: I tried, I failed. No matter, I'll try again, I'll fail better.
Furthermore, voting for me means giving support to young people who work hard and who invest their time for the future of all.
4. You are of Albanian origin. What is Albania for you?
Belonging to multiple cultures makes you free from the germ of racism because you understand that there are no substantial differences. I see the sea where others see a wall.
My origins remind me of how difficult it is to be considered a foreigner, no Albanian in Italy should forget it tragedy of Otranto of the Good Friday of 1997.
5. What does it mean to have a foreign name in your everyday life?
Albania for me is the origin of everything, the matrix with which I was created. It is the land of my conception and my birth. These are the roots that I have been investigating since I was a child, in the sense that I have always felt the need to return to Albania and I always had the need to let my parents tell me the story of my land.
Albania is also the story of my family, I am nephew of Lin Delija. My father's family was persecuted all the years of the dictatorship, I never ignored their story so much that I am working on a documentary about my family's past.
For me Albania is a source of inspiration, not a place to go on vacation. In short, if today I am an actor and I have chosen this path, it is above all due to my origins and all that follows. Albania and my family tree are part of what I am.
6. What does it mean to be integrated in your opinion and what are the proposals to be made to improve immigration policies?
It reminds me that I am a foreigner at home, that my name tells a story of research and the conquest of identity that in reality unites all men on earth, only for some it is not a right but an achievement. But every time at the counters it's a struggle.
I always have to spell it and then now I also risk canceling the cards because maybe someone is wrong to write my surname.
In fact, dear voter: GJUR A. Adesso Gjura. And you're not wrong
7. Are you Italian enough for those who will vote for you?
I am more than Italian, I am Italian and Albanian. And I'm also European. But then are the definitions so important? defining oneself often limits one's personality.
8. Do you care about polls? What do they say about the list you signed up for?
No, because they are misleading, in the voting booth you are alone and there is no survey to take.
It is a winning list, the people who are part of it are genuine and valid people who commit themselves to a cause and do not apply just to reap support.
9. What does it mean to be integrated in your opinion and what are the proposals to be made to improve immigration policies?
The term itself gives the definition, the integration proposals have already been made: Il Riace model, proposed by Mimmo Lucano is a great point from which to start a voluntary integration. Even the Bergamo model that through the teaching of Italian culture and inclusion in companies brings immigrants to integration.
Unfortunately, today the law does not protect integration, not anymore. Obviously it will be momentary, the Salvini era will also end because it is doing nothing a few months have been enough to see its inability to govern a country.
Does not govern on Instagram.
Adopting the Riace model would be possible in Vercelli because even our city suffers from years of population decline, we are full of unused buildings. Integration is fundamental for economic development.
Above all we must understand that the foreigner is not the true cause of our evil; he is just a scapegoat used to confuse the gaze of voters.
10. Do you notice any difference between your parents and you in the way you live in Italy?
The only difference is the generational one, the same in all families. The vision with which we face the world is really different. From parents we learn a lot but then the time comes to break away and that's where you see the difference.
I want to explore they want to defend themselves, I don't look for their permanent work for me yes. However, I am very grateful to my parents because they urged me to always try and they never put a spoke in my wheel.
11. Is there an organized Albanian community where you are a candidate? (like some association, a school, etc.). How many Albanians are there in your constituency?
There is no organized community in Vercelli, we are still many: according to the census the Albanians are the third foreign community in Vercelli.
12. Don't you think they only chose you to draw on the votes of your community?
Likely but I accepted because to stand as a counselor is a start to really try to change the environment in which I live and it is also an opportunity to bring young people to take an interest in politics. Politics affects us personally.
13. What do you have to say to the other candidates of Albanian origin who compete in other lists?
Nothing different from what I have to say to voters. However, to those who are candidates with the League, I would like to ask him: Why?
14. Do you want to add something or say more that you think is important?
I would like to appeal to young people, to their civic sense: politics must concern us, investing in our future means being interested in politics, we must take a point of view on the world and cultivate a political conscience. we cannot lose interest, today we have no excuses.
The change is gradual, we must work steadily and patiently so that something really changes. We do not lose hope.
