Integration means "recognizing" to others the right to cultural integrity, in a reciprocal way and in the perspective of social and cultural growth. With this objective the project of the School "Nene Tereza" was born to maintain the mother tongue and improve the knowledge of the family culture of origin for the Albanian children born in Pistoia.
In the last month we have taken a step forward: the first training course was made possible for the volunteer educators of the Albanian language course, which ended with an interested participation and interest from volunteer women. The initiative, part of the project "Enhancing the native language service for children resident in Pistoia of Albanian origin", for which it was planned to purchase teaching materials and the IT and glottodidactics training course, was carried out from AssoAlbania (Albanian entrepreneurs in Italy) and for 50% thanks to the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia and Pescia Foundation.
The training, aimed particularly at women, was designed to foster the professional development of volunteers who offer Albanian-language educational services and laboratories for children born in Italy to Albanian parents, in the belief that the school is a vehicle for integration between the Albanian and Italian communities for the benefit of the whole territory.
In Pistoia the people of Albanian origin are 11 thousand while the children who can take advantage of the approaches to the Albanian language and culture are about 1.000. In fact this is the first activity that is aimed at children of Albanian origin for the knowledge of the parents' culture, enhancing it and creating structured activities throughout the whole school year and beyond, plus it has allowed many citizens of Albanian origin to approach volunteering, enhancing their personal abilities and their cultural education, this especially for women in the community.
For all these reasons, the intention of the Asso Albania association and the volunteers is to continue the path of training and professional training for years to come.
