The objective is to protect the Albanian language, history and culture in the Albanian community in Italy.
The Albanian community is one of the most numerous and better integrated realities of migrants present both in Rovigo and in the rest of Italy.
For citizens of Albanian origin, integration entails the risk of losing the culture and national identity, especially for the new generations born and raised in Italy with particular reference to the Albanian language.
In fact, the new generations, who are born and grow up in Italy, use daily and predominantly the Italian language both in the school and in the social context, thus losing the opportunity to acquire the knowledge of the Albanian language, that is the language of their own parents.
For this reason, within the Albanian community of Rovigo and the surrounding area, the decision was made to create an association whose main purpose is the protection and promotion of the Albanian language, culture and history.
In fact, integrating into a society does not mean replacing the culture of the nation of origin with that of the host land, but rather adding to its cognitive heritage the new culture with which one comes into contact, without ever losing one's cultural and historical roots and, above all , linguistic.
Moreover, today more than ever, the mastery of one or more foreign languages is one of the fundamental skills to face the world of work with competitiveness. English is important at work, but often it is not enough to communicate in all working contexts and, as for example, in sectors such as tourism or international trade. The new generations of Italian citizens of Albanian origin are fortunate to be born in a bilingual family context. Therefore, this cultural heritage needs to be preserved and cultivated also for its inherent and immense value.
The DUA association, therefore, is based on these premises, addressing all citizens of Albanian origin with the primary objective of guaranteeing their social integration on the Italian territory and at the same time safeguarding the cultural identity to which the members belong .
DUA aims to achieve these goals by organizing courses in Albanian language and culture; the organization of cultural initiatives to disseminate knowledge of Albanian history and culture in Italy; the protection of individual and collective rights of people and, in particular, of Albanian citizens present on the Italian territory.

The President of the DUA Association, Dott. Taulant Aliraj, expresses with enthusiasm to have completed, together with the other founding members, a path of collaborations, meetings and seminars started more than a year ago:
"We have reached a very significant goal: the establishment of the Association with the participation of over forty founding members.
The next goal is to open courses in Albanian language, culture and history: courses aimed primarily at young people of Albanian origin, but open to all young people who want to get in touch and learn about the Albanian language and culture.
Also the choice of the date of the 25 April, an anniversary of the day of the liberation of Italy from Nazi-fascism, was not left to chance, but wanted to underline the fact that history is the path traced by our ancestors, where our future will develop, which is why it should never be left in oblivion.
A goal, therefore, that in reality marks only the beginning of a long journey of future projects. "
