The newly formed Albanian lawyers' association in Italy issued a statement expressing its concern about the events that took place yesterday during the opposition protest.
The association of Albanian lawyers in Italy, learned of what happened yesterday 16 in February in Tirana, expresses its concern about the serious incidents that caused the wounding of several people between protesters and law enforcement.
The Albanian Lawyers in Italy, precisely because of their role as guarantor of legality and human rights, therefore invite all Albanian political forces to maintain confrontation and dialectics in a peaceful and moderate manner in respect of roles without acts of violence.
The association was founded at the beginning of this year with the aim of promoting the participation of the Albanian-based lawyer in various bodies, monitoring and activating the protection of the rights of people and in particular of the Albanian citizens present on the Italian territory, take initiatives aimed at introducing and modifying legal rules, as well as establishing and maintaining relations with Italian, Albanian and international institutions and private individuals.
The clashes in Tirana against the government
Thousands of opposition supporters clashed with police at an anti-government demonstration, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and early elections.
The protesters invaded the streets of Tirana from early morning yesterday, in what is considered one of the largest protests the country has witnessed in recent years.
Praised by opposition leaders as 'the protest that will bring down the drug and corrupt government', the violence was also condemned by EU representation in Albania and the US embassy.
