What happened in Genoa
Shortly before 12 on Tuesday 14, a piece of the Polcevera viaduct, known as the Morandi bridge, collapsed on the A10 highway in Genoa. At the time of the collapse cars and three heavy vehicles were passing on the 30-35 bridge, said the head of Civil Protection, Angelo Borrelli. Both carriageways of the bridge over a kilometer long and high 90 meters have collapsed for about a hundred meters. To date, the confirmed victims are 39.
Autostrade per l'Italia announced that consolidation work was underway on the viaduct floor and that a bridge car had been installed to allow maintenance to be carried out on the structure dating back to the 60 years.
The A10 Genoa-Savona motorway is closed in both directions between the junction for the A7 Milan-Genoa and the Genoa Airport exit. The circulation of trains on the Genoa - Savona - Ventimiglia line has been reactivated. In Liguria it has been raining since 13 Monday, when the Civil Protection declared the orange alert (moderate criticality).
Genoa: also two Albanian victims
As communicated by the same Albanian embassy in Italy, there are also two Albanian victims in the tragedy that struck the Ligurian capital.
"The embassy is following with the Italian authorities the sad news of the disappearance of two young Albanians Marjus Djerri and Admir Bokrina in the tragic event of the Morandi bridge in Genoa. Expressing our condolences to families, the Embassy is available for all the necessary support. "- reads Facebook.
The two boys were in the Qubo van of the EuroPulizia. They had to do some work in a Rapallo company, but in Rapallo they never arrived. They were pulled from the rubble in front of mom, dad and wives.
