Italy to help Albania during the covid-19 emergency: a team made up of seven units left today for Tirana, including doctors and nurses; together with them a load of 500 thousand surgical masks took off.
A gesture of closeness to a friendly and allied country that was at the side of Italy in the most acute phase of the pandemic with the sending of Albanian health personnel. The team also includes Eni Bardhi, a 30-year-old Albanian nurse from Lodi who grew up and trained in Italy, who was interviewed by Report TV as soon as the plane landed in Tirana.
"I left Albania with my family when I was 10 to study. This possibility that was given to me by the two countries and by the hospital where I work is very exciting for two reasons: for what I am doing and for where I am doing it, my homeland that cannot be forgotten.
When they informed me that I would come to Albania I cried with emotion. I immediately told my family. They are very happy, they are people who do not forget the country we come from mainly because the respect and values that I have come from this country. That's why it's doubly exciting for me and my family.
I hope to help in these 14 days the hospital where we will work for what has been our experience with COVID-19.”- declared the Albanian nurse.
The team, welcomed upon arrival by the Albanian Health Minister Ogerta Manastirliu and the Italian Ambassador to Albania Fabrizio Bucci, will carry out consultancy and assistance, as well as training on specific health aspects of diagnosis and contrast to the covid.
As underlined by Minister Di Maio, international cooperation is crucial to defeat the coronavirus and collaboration between Italy and Albania is a successful model that further strengthens the strategic partnership between our countries.
