Federlinea, the armament association to which the maritime company currently in extraordinary administration has joined, has specified that there will be a rotation of 172 people every day, for a maximum of 230 employees. The cigs will start in December and last until 31 May next year. According to the unions "The formal initiation of the cigs is a unilateral and unacceptable act that we reject. The commissioner and his staff had pledged not to proceed with formal deeds with repercussions on work, without a prior comparison. It is not acceptable nor justified - recalled Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti - that the workers pay for the containment of operating costs. Tirrenia's decision to resort to social safety nets derives from the state of extraordinary administration aimed at liquidation (the deficit is incompatible with the purposes of protecting creditors, proper to the extraordinary procedure), from the "Contingent reduction of work and activities, related to the approaching winter season, and the notorious situation of global economic and financial crisis". The substantial economic losses of the connection, which do not make the trafficking more convenient as in the past, also depend on the impressive competition (moreover many foreign companies, beating the flags of tax havens, do not pay the charges of the Italian ship register Rina). From Bari, Albania can be reached with a dozen companies: Azzurra Line (every day starting at 23.00 arriving at 08.00 in Durres), Adria Ferries (three-weekly service also to and from Ancona), Venezia Lines (fast catamaran with car transport ), Ilion Lines (4 weekly departures and 9 travel hours), Ventouris Ferries (2 ships with daily departures all year round), European Seaways: (the service is performed with two ships every day of the year). Then the section on the construction site for the port near Scutari, in northern Albania, is added, and the Skenderbeg Lines (weekday ferry to and from Valona) with departure and arrival in Brindisi, a port that has long since been abandoned, for similar reasons of convenience, by the only Italian public shipping company. "For this reason - the unions conclude - the government and the commissioner must commit themselves to withdraw the procedure for appealing to cigs, the consequences of which are only borne by the workers".
