The Albanian minister of the diaspora, Pandeli Majko, took part yesterday in the conference "Integration and cooperation of the Albanian community in Italy between excellences and difficulties" organized by the Italian radical party in the parliament of the Bel Paese.
Among the many issues addressed, there was discussion on the forms and ways of collaboration between the Albanian institutions and professionals operating in Italy in support of the entire Albanian community.
Minister Majko's words
In his speech, Minister Pandeli Majko initially expressed himself on the positive relations that Albania and Italy have always had from the '90 years onwards:
"Today, Italy is the foreign country that has the largest number of Albanian citizens. In Italian universities, Albanian students are top in number among foreign students. While the Albanian commercial activities in Italy are constantly growing.
The participation of Albanian citizens in Italian public life has increased. The Albanian emigrants are now taking Italian citizenships and have returned, together with the Arbereshe community, to the essence of the Albanian closeness in the Italian community.
Albania has a special relationship with Italy, which derives not from a political purpose but from the human relations that Albanians and Italians have with one another. "- said Pandeli Majko.
The minister of the diaspora, then, expressed his gratitude to the Italian Radical Party, for the role that the latter played in the integration of the Albanian lawyers who studied in Italy:
"I am proud of the fact that thanks to their efforts it was possible that this newly created network of lawyers would be present in the Italian parliament, the most important institution of the Italian Republic.
These lawyers will never forget this day. Building a memory and a friendship is more important than any statement. I am happy to be here and I am grateful for how you treat our people. I assure you that we Albanians will never forget this. "- said the minister.
The conference was also attended by Italian members of the Radical Party, such as Giandomenico Caiazza, Cesare Placanica and Vincenzo Comi.
