The August landing, in 20.000 on a ship. Another wave of migrants on a ship coming from Albania. The 8 August 1991 docked in the port of Bari the merchant ship left from Durazzo with twenty thousand illegal immigrants on board.
It was the second major landing in Puglia after the March one. The Albanians were transferred from the quay to the Victory stadium. That day leaves the images of the ship "Vlora" imprinted in the collective memory with thousands and thousands of people on board. The refugee ship, first rejected in Brindisi and diverted to the north towards Monopoli, was then hooked by tugs and moored in the port of the Apulian capital.
In the 28th anniversary of the landing of the Vlora ship, the 8 2019, a large radiotelegraphic wave carrying a morse code message will be launched in the airwaves. The sentence is the one pronounced by the then mayor Enrico Dalfino

The broadcast is curated by Stefano Straziota with the collaboration and technical support of the Bari section of the Italian Amateur Radio Association (Ari) and of the Bar Association. On the same day the exhibition 'On Board' will be inaugurated, set up in the Margherita theater by the international photography festival PhEst, in which there will be a performance by Jasmine Pignatelli, author of the sculpture "Sono Persone 8.8.1991", recently inaugurated on the new promenade of San Girolamo, dedicated to the mayor Enrico Dalfino, who died in 1994, and to the spirit of human acceptance by the people of Bari during the landing of the Vlora ship.
