The 8 last June, in New York, the international parade of immigrants was held which brought together some communities of the world as a sign of strongly identifying recognition wanted by thousands of people of different nationalities who live in this city.
Among them was the parade of the great Albanian community, held in the famous "America" street 6th street in Manhattan, NYC. The participants present were around 10.000 dressed in red and black (the colors of the Albanian flag) and paraded with large posters in hand to remember the great message of the unification of the nation of all Albanians.
This year the message had a very specific purpose, namely to commemorate and make known to the Americans the 75th anniversary of the genocide of the Çamëria population by the Greeks.
The songs, costumes and dances entertained throughout the streets throughout the day, bringing to light the tradition of Albanian culture and that of the Çamëria, handed down from generation to generation for centuries.
Mark Gjonaj, a member of the New York City Council, was among the political figures. While as guest of honor from Albania for this great parade there was the journalist Marin Mema, journalist of the Top Channel television in Tirana, and author of some documentary cycles that have helped to raise awareness in the Albanian world.
Together with him was the designer Edlira Sula - who brought a large number of traditional Çamëria dresses to make them parade through the streets of Manhattan - and other political figures of Çamëria herself.
The organizers of this very important event were Mark Kepi and Nik Beqi, president and vice president of the organization "The roots", supported by a large number of associations and activists who are active in New York.
