In the high school of the village of Gjergjovinë, in the Gramshi district, the hours of lessons are reduced or even canceled every time there is a funeral ceremony or a wedding in the village.
The lunches and dinners for these occasions, in fact, are held inside the school building thus not allowing the normal course of the lessons.
All this happens because the principal of the institute reduces or cancels the hours of lessons, to make room for funeral ceremonies or weddings. A situation that arose on his own initiative, without the permission of Gramshi's school office.
The residents' complaint
Gramshi's school office immediately took the case to the commission so that it could make a decision about the principal, after numerous complaints from residents.
The crew of the 'Fiks Fare' television program - following complaints with a lot of video testimony arrived from the villagers - went to Gjergjovinë, to verify the veracity of the films that arrived in the newsroom.
The crew interacted initially with the high school students, who reported that - on the day of the funeral of one of the villagers - the hours of lessons had been reduced to allow lunch to be held inside the school building which traditionally takes place after the funeral.
Even the residents of Gjergjovinë themselves confirm the version communicated by the students:
"Not just a week ago. In most cases, funeral ceremonies are held within the institution. ”- says one of the villagers, who goes on to say that most marriages also take place inside the school.
On the other hand, the principal of the institute also wanted to have her say:
"Performing such ceremonies within the school is a tradition that has been going on for a long time. I gave permission knowing I was breaking the rules, but the head of the school office told me I could decide when I heard it over the phone."- replied the principal of the high school.
